LENNY CHANDLER

Lenny Chandler, or Mr. Lenny Chan, as he is known on social media, was born on the island of Barbados, which up until 1966, was a colony of the United Kingdom.  His personality has been moulded and influenced heavily by the culture of Barbados and the Bajan way of life.

His pieces depict through an unusual lens, the richness of Bajan culture and by extension the spirit of Caribbean living, a spirit which has followed the diaspora overseas, even to places such as London and Birmingham.

One of his pieces, “Speightstown (Wid Seats N Movin’)” was shared widely on social media and even gained the attention and attracted the praise and adoration of legendary West Indian icon, Baroness Floella Benjamin DBE.  This piece was also featured in a Black History Month exhibition hosted by the Royal Mail at their Chancery Lane, London facility in October 2019.
