Maxine Richards was born and raised in Birmingham, as first-generation black British to Jamaican parents, and presently resides in Glastonbury. She studied art and design at Matthew Boulton College in 1997 but self-expression and experimental art have enabled her to explore many art styles. She has dedicated much of her career to working with DeafBlind people along with some art commission work.
Her mediums of choice are acrylics or watercolours and she paints in an abstract style. She enjoys the freedom of expression abstract art allows her. Many of her art pieces are inspired by her love of her Mother land- Africa, her descendants, ancestral spirits, and music. She also likes to transfer her dreams and visions onto canvas.
