When Tanja first started painting her Mosaic Paintings she had very strict rules about which colour could go where and which ones could touch. One of these rules was that different versions of the same colour could not touch. In Spring 2018 she slowly started to relax her strict rules and began allowing similar colours to be placed next to each other (blues next to purple for example).
This spring she wanted to paint a picture that on purpose uses all the tones of one colour together, in this case, three different green tones. A tree frog on a green branch felt like the perfect subject, especially to combine all that green with the red eyes and orange accents on the fingers.
She also put a leave shape into the background, can you see it?
