Vanessa Hiller was born in 1969 in Manchester; her father is black Ghanaian and her mother is white English. She moved to London in her early 20’s to study Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art and has continued to paint since that time. When the George Floyd incident started trending, her heart hurt and from that sorrow a feeling of needing to paint has resurfaced. The emotions that she has gone through are real and painful but she has a renewed energy inside her and a feeling of pride for her African heritage.
